Lauri Kubuitsile is a full time writer living in Botswana. She writes across many genres including romance, detective, children, young adult and literary fiction.

Her children’s books include: Mmele and the Magic Bones (Pentagon Publishing 2009) which was shortlisted for the UK based Macmillan African Writers Prize in 2008;Curse of the Gold Coins (Vivlia 2010); and Lorato and her Wire Car (Vivlia 2009), which won the Golden Baobab Prize in 2009. Her YA book, Signed, Hopelessly in Love (Tafelberg 2011) was chosen by O Magazine (SA) in December 2011 as one of its “40 Best Reads”.

She has won or been shortlisted for numerous prizes most notably she was shortlisted for the Caine Prize in 2011 with her story “In the Spirit of McPhineas Lata” . Also, she has twice won the Golden Baobab Prize. She blogs at https://thoughtsfrombotswana.blogspot.com/.
